Mr David Liew was called to the Singapore Bar in 1988 and was with a big law firm, M/s Robert Wang & Woo until he formed a partnership and was the principal partner in the law firm of M/s Kenneth C P Tan & Liew from 1993 to 2003 supervising civil and criminal litigation. He merged with Mr Ho Nee Min and Mr Simon Wong to form the law firm of DSH Law Corporation on the 1st April 2004. On 15th March 2010, Mr Liew joined Lawhub LLC as a Consultant and currently is the supervising lawyer at their Branch Office at South Bridge Road.
He has considerable experience in a wide range of litigation matters and conducted mediation, trials and appeals in the Subordinate Courts, the High Court and the Court of Appeal in Singapore, involving various specialized and complex issues in contract, corporate, banking, admiralty, tort, insurance, family, construction and building law, insolvency, intellectual property and other fields. He has also worked with Queen’s Counsel and Senior Counsels retained for litigation matters.
Mr Liew’s work experience also encompass non-contentious legal work including conveyancing and property transactions, drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts (joint ventures, shareholders agreement, licensing and franchising agreements, computer software and hardware contracts) both local and regional corporate secretarial matters and intellectual property rights registration and litigation.
In property transactions matters, besides acting for individual and corporate clients, he has also acted for various banks and financial institutions such as DBS Bank, OCBC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, ABN AMRO Bank, UOB Bank and Hong Leong Finance Pte Ltd in mortgages, in redemptions and project financing and other property related matters.
